The Picayne is not your typical beach house. it is a well-appointed, upscale home with an open and airy feel. The luxurious comfort is just one reason the Picayne has so many return guests.

This vacation rental welcomes up to two dogs per reservation year-round and for off-season monthly rentals.

With only two rows of houses, our end of Oak Island has spectacular wide-open views in a relaxed, quiet surround. The Picayne is a family home geared towards cooking, sharing meals, enjoying the gorgeous views, and spending time on the uncrowded beach. The Oak Island Lighthouse gently sweeps the night sky as it has done since the 1950s. The nearby town of Southport is nationally recognized for its charm. The Fort Fisher Aquarium is a short, fun ferry ride away. The public Oak Island Golf Club is just down the road. Caswell Beach has laid-back beach town charm with amenities and activities reflecting today's lifestyles. If you're lucky enough to see Loggerhead turtle hatch it will be an experience, you'll never forget.

The details: Spacious open reverse floor plan w/ large up & downstairs living areas. New hardwood floors throughout. Completely renovated well-equipped chef's kitchen with updated appliances including microwave drawer and separate beverage cooler. Ice maker downstairs. Two dining areas plus counter with bar chairs. Enclosed, carpeted elevator from the carport to the upper floors.

Four bedrooms, each with private bath: two queens; four twins; two full sofa beds in the spacious downstairs den with large picture windows and great views, pull-down shades for room darkening. Available folding crib. 4 flat-screen TVs: 55", 46", 32" and 27", DVD player, wireless Internet.

Upstairs master with limited ocean views, French doors to covered porch, walk-in tile shower with dual heads and seat. Downstairs master with semi-private covered balcony and expansive views.

Front upper-level covered balcony with rocking chairs and partial ocean views; open upper back deck with wide views of wetlands, summer sunset, Southport, and stargazing. Ground-level carport with play area and picnic table. Easy beach access. Rinse off with two lighted, private hot and cold outdoor showers with dressing benches and clothes hooks. Beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and games provided. If you've had to leave your four-legged family member at the kennel on previous vacations, we are now dog-friendly.

The Picayne is perfect for two families or grandparents with the up and down-stairs masters and elevator. Our home is noted for its tasteful decor, extensive original artwork, spacious living areas, and well-equipped kitchen. It always gets a big "WOW" for breathtaking views. Many locals say it's the best view on Caswell Beach. We invite you to enjoy the unique charm of Caswell Beach in the Picayne, a home graciously accommodating for you and your family and friends.

The Picayne house was absolutely stunning. I couldn't pick a favorite spot between the amazing kitchen that was perfectly stocked with everything we needed or the gorgeous views from the multiple porches. It was the perfect amount of space for my family of 12 to enjoy hanging out upstairs together or to have their own space downstairs. They thought of everything we would need to enjoy the beach with all the beach chairs and games available. This house had the best views of Southport and the sunrise and sunset.

Great house, great views. I built 505 Caswell and have enjoyed the island for 30 years. The 2 decks offer a wonderful view of the ocean and intercoastal waterways. A beautiful picture.
