Located in a quiet cul-de-sac with no thru traffic, approximately 110 yards walk across the marsh on a private walkway. You can pause halfway and relax on benches to observe wildlife. Upstairs queen bedroom has a balcony, extra seating, wet bar and fabulous views. Three baby gates for interior and exterior stairways. No Pets. Next door to Yellow House.

The house is nice and our family had a great time! It has a great view of the sound and of the ocean. We enjoyed catching glimpses of the local small alligator that lives in the water between the house and the beach. The master bedroom upstairs with the private balcony was beautiful! We had some issues with a slow running toilet, but other than that it is a lovely house.

This house is in an ideal location, with pleasant private access to a perfect beach (warm, child-friendly waves, perfectly soft sand) but also close access to groceries, restaurant and mini-gold. The size and layout is ideal for a large group (we had 5 adults and 6 children). Children loved dining on the screened-in porch, and the covered porch was perfect for adults to relax after lunch or observe the ocean in the evening. The kitchen is well equipped, with all needed appliances. The warm outdoor shower is a must especially when travelling with children. A wagon and several beach toys and chairs are available to use. Keyless entry and checkin/checkout procedures are very easy. Only missing from this house: a working outdoor grill, and an outdoor picnic table to avoid getting into the house to eat. Those might be easy additions in the future?

I was able to get both my older brothers and their wives along with both my daughters and their spouses to vacation with us at Turtleopia this past week, July 9, 2016. This five bedroom house accommodated us very well. My eldest brother had never been to Oak Island and seemed to enjoy the stay very much. <BR>OIA responded very quickly to two minor maintenance issues we had and on a Sunday afternoon at that! Oak Island is a pleasant, uncrowded beach that we have enjoyed for over 20 years.
